Shenae, founder of the First Ladies’ circle, Deborah’s Daughters, is a prim and proper First Lady: always on time, always put together, and never caught with a hair out of place. Having been under a trail of stresses lately, including a lackluster marriage and continuous problems at her home church, Shenae wakes up one morning, in a lonely bed yet again, and decides she’s had enough.

Six-foot-something, former model turned First Lady Lynette is no stranger to loss. It began with her father’s abandonment of her family at a young age and continued with the loss of her firstborn son after she married her husband and assumed her role as First Lady. Fed up with the church gossip, and in an attempt to break the mold the church and her husband are trying to conform her to, she cuts and dyes her long tresses to a fire-red short haircut.
