When Patch, the pink-tummied puppy that Jan and her friend Sarah visit at the pet store, goes missing, they turn detectives to track him down. With Patch's new owner they search all over the city, riding the bus, eating at a restaurant downtown, searching alleys and vacant lots. It's a big adventure. But when they finally find the puppy, stuck in a pit at the bottom of a huge construction site, they see it's Patch who has had the biggest adventure of all. Jan on the Trail is a story about how perseverance and a sense of responsibility pay off in the end.
