当代政治家们大多经过公关高手设计打造，他们不会以丘吉尔为楷模，或许本书作者伦敦市长Boris Johnson想表明自己是个例外。此书出版在Johnson公布重返大选时。百忙之中抽出时间码字，他是真对丘吉尔有新研究，还是在利用故人为自己走一步棋，让选民们从老人家身上看他的影子，借丘吉尔来比喻自己？

BoJ这代人太酷炫了接受无能书里有个别typo...editor失职很多都是摘的别处的材料--大篇幅的重叠很扎眼但是作者是记者吧不是专业historian 这个也是写给general public的消遣读物...看在他一头金发的份上作为小读者还是原谅老人家吧公务毕竟繁忙今年买手稿囤画拍藏品简直要倾家荡产了.看BoJ写的这么perky 有点伤怀..为了safeguard my soul and my spirit..伟人的真迹还是用来镇宅吧..

想了解丘吉尔生平的人不如去读传记，这本书无非借着保守党MP的身份卖了一手好梗。另外就是政客不可避免地夹带的私货。不过总的说来还是很有趣（嘴贱），值得一读。

The lure of strong men在当今政界已经不足为奇了，也有一部分的社会受众。不过也许是读白纸黑字的缘故，看多了还是觉得有点受不了这种崇拜。这些铁腕人物并不一定是要靠特殊时代才能孕育出来。但在特殊的时代，如乱世，他们的作用才更显积极。而且这也完全取决于他们是站在人类还是反人类的立场上。另外，BoJo的嘴毒得也是随性。

Boris Johnson is the very popular and internationally known Mayor of London. Educated at Oxford, he began his career as a journalist, writing for the Times and the Telegraph (for whom he still contributes a regular column), and working his way up to editor of the Spectator. He is the author of Johnson’s Life of London (Riverhead, 2012) and The Churchill Factor (Riverhead, 2014). He was elected to the House of Commons in 2001 and served there until he was elected Mayor in 2008. Johnson is a regular on British television and radio. He lives in London with his wife and four children.
