在如今众多的“伊斯兰是崇尚和平的，是反对暴力的”书里算是文笔不错。但这类的书到底是写给对伊斯兰不了解的大众的。但在读者明白了古兰经是像托拉和圣经一样的宗教典籍之后呢？但是单单呼唤“我们对伊斯兰社会要有耐心”，是不能够帮助被炮火轰炸的叙利亚、利比亚和也门的，是不能推翻埃及的军事独裁

今年读过最好的一本书，不仅让我对伊斯兰和可兰经有更好的了解，而使我意识到人类历史的长河里沉淀下来的精华都无一例外地闪烁着的人类最值得珍惜的价值。此作品是新闻书写对文学的宝贵贡献。推荐给所有希望了解世界和他人的读者。

作者簡介

卡拉．鮑爾（Carla Power）

美國《時代週刊》（Time）作家，也曾為《新聞週刊》（Newsweek）、《紐約時報雜誌》（The New York Times Magazine）、《外交政策》（Foreign Policy）等雜誌撰稿。曾獲海外出版俱樂部獎（Overseas Press Club Award）、女性媒體工作者獎（Women in Media Award）。

鮑爾的母親是猶太人、父親曾是基督教貴格會的法律系教授，本人是生長在美國中西部的世俗女性主義者。因為父親熱愛至中東地區旅遊，鮑爾從小與伊斯蘭結下不解之緣。

譯者簡介

葉品岑

哥倫比亞大學東亞語言與文化系碩士。曾任編輯，目前從事翻譯，譯作有《午夜的佩拉皇宮：近代伊斯坦堡的誕生》、《凱因斯對戰海耶克：決定現代經濟學樣貌的世紀衝突》。
