This book aims to train artists to paint what they actually see, not what they think they see. Twenty-two painting projects show how to analyze every subject as a series of distinct colour areas. A final section contains paintings of various subjects. Arthur Stern has taught painting and drawing at Hunter College in New York, and in his own studio. He has also taught art appreciation and history at a number of schools.
