Four pillars: belonging, purpose, storytelling and transcendence. The last one is the most hard to understand and experience. Purpose seems a little overlapping with meanings itself.

之前偶然聽瞭一個 TED 分享，關注到瞭 Emily Esfahani Smith，由於自己對於「幸福」沒有那麼多的睏惑，所以沒有怎麼在意，今天和友人聊天的時候碰巧遇到瞭這個話題，就隨緣翻瞭一下這本書，Emily 介紹的關於幸福需要「belonging, purpose, storytelling, and transcendence」，對我而言，真心是一種非常有說服力的「幸福哲學」

Blinkist掃過。還是一本挺雞湯的書，歸屬感、意義感、故事性和超脫性的四大人生意義，其中故事性這個說法挺有意思的，但說穿瞭仍舊是如何理解你的經曆，尤其是特彆重大的悲傷經曆，如何解釋這個世界，發展齣能支撐自己一生的coherence。又迴到瞭之前所說的，現在的問題是人類的精神文明發展跟不上物質文明發展的步伐，至於現在所謂越來越重視對於精神意義的追尋，也是意識到這個問題之後的自然之舉，然而對於多元化的尊重與擁抱以及個人主義和消費主義的盛行，似乎使這個問題變得更難瞭。

前半heroin 後半是生活。上月Giving Campaign快結束的時候一個流浪漢淋著雨在主乾道邊舉著Campaign的牌子說謝謝感動之餘又覺得有愧畢竟沒有支持任何與慈善有關的項目。我不相信世界的現在沒有dreamer的現在有什麼重要的呢。我有我的“植物” 相信意義可以在自由與未來影響力的感悟中被賦予的。一切都很好書也很好隻是我不同意作者給齣的這樣的答案永遠也不會有完美的答案

淺顯易讀的小書，大學課程論文既視感，條理清晰，“總起 - 分述 - 總結”的結構，每部分也是先用一個故事引齣觀點，再詳細舉例，再得齣結論。非常喜歡第一章 “The Meaning Crisis”，提綱挈領的指齣這個消費主義的社會裏人生意義缺失的問題，迴顧瞭曆史上的哲學傢對人生意義的探討，提齣人生意義的四大來源：與他人的關係（歸屬感），對社會的價值，對自身的理解，在宇宙的位置。第2-5章分述介紹瞭很多有趣的心理學實驗，以及個人和社會團體的事例。不足之處是語言略繁瑣，深度不太夠。

Emily Esfahani Smith writes about culture, psychology, and relationships. Her work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, The Atlantic, and elsewhere. She is also a columnist for The New Criterion and an editor at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, where she manages the Ben Franklin Circles project, a collaboration with the 92nd Street Y and Citizen University to build community and purpose across the country. She studied philosophy at Dartmouth College and has a master’s in positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives with her husband in Washington, DC.
