Just don't bite off more than you can chew...记者写东西真的不如学者鞭辟入里，前四分之一感觉真的很像论文东拼西凑起来的，太乱了，很多地方都浮于表面，而且主观倾向太强，写的所有东西都以liberalism作为风向标，甚至以这个有毒的lens去看待中国？？中间写到的Didier Eribon的故事还不错

从Democracy Jounral看到了本书的review.作者的central argument是西方liberal民主的衰落和中产阶级在经济发展中的不受益以及在社会hierarchy中的下陷有着密切的关系。中国经济崛起在全球范围内对西方民主普世价值的挑战也是重要因素。记者的写作优点在于tangible, 实时性很强，但缺点在于逻辑不够严谨，论证也略显浅尝辄止，兴趣点过于繁杂缺乏明晰的论证系统性。总的来说可以一读。

我再也不要读政治类的了，因为不管怎么深刻，还是事实的堆砌和对过往的分析。还是读哲学去吧

He worked as a speech writer for the treasury secretary in the Clinton administration, worked as the South Asia bureau chief for the Financial Times and is based in Washington DC as the Financial Times Washington columnist and commentator.
