理查德·道金斯（Richard Dawkins，1941—　）

英国皇家科学院院士，牛津大学首席西蒙尼“公众理解科学教授”，进化论生物学家。他是英国著名科学作家，几乎每本书都是畅销书，并经常在各大媒体引起轰动。2005年，英国《前景》杂志会同美国《外交政策》杂志评选出在世的全球100名最有影响力的公共知识分子，道金斯赫然在列。

1976年出版的《自私的基因》是他最重要的代表作，他的基因观念颠覆了我们对自身的认知，深刻影响了整整一个时代。其他主要作品有《祖先的故事》《延伸的表型》《盲眼钟表匠》《地球上最伟大的表演》《解析彩虹》《魔鬼的牧师》《攀登不可能的山峰》《超越上帝》等。
