原本以為開篇17頁的失業人群分類錶格還有點意思，越讀到後麵越意識到沒有曆史訓練、沒有定量功底、沒有采樣寬度、沒有訪談深度與技巧、沒有田野基礎的研究是有多麼可怕，脆弱到無力的解釋框架以及似有似無的個人經曆/對話節選，內容散的無邊，真是讓人崩潰啊。最後全迴歸到唯纔個人主義瞭 M

Anthropologist Katherine S. Newman interviewed a wide range of men, women, and children who experienced a precipitous fall from middle-class status, and her book documents their stories. For the 1999 edition, Newman has provided a new preface and updated the extensive data on job loss and downward mobility in the American middle class, documenting its persistence, even in times of prosperity.
