Generation Kill裏的Lt寫的自傳性質紀錄，從他在Dartmouth決定參軍到受訓到正式入伍到911到阿富汗到伊拉剋到退伍。開頭非常高昂，到後來越來越失望，但最後一章的自我詰問是非常好的升華。總體來說還是很客觀，從一個年輕軍官的角度看Marine和戰爭。從內部看2nd Platoon和外人觀察完全不一樣。他喜歡的人在書裏有無數有愛的小細節，對於討厭的人幾乎不提，偶爾提起來也是帶著戲謔的口吻。為無能的上司辯解。不迴避自己在戰爭中體驗的無力感和挫敗感。非常美國主鏇律正能量的一本書。前半部分幾乎可以當作領導力成功學勵誌書來讀，後半部分就有點模糊。文筆非常棒，讀到很多部分完全身臨其境。最後幾章有GK完全沒提到的內容。

讀過Generation Kill, 再讀One Bullet Away. 感覺是兩個角度，雖有重復。讀過Lone Survivor, 感覺Dartmouth College畢業的人文筆就是不一樣。
