Francisco Casavella has been awarded the Nadal Prize for his novel Lo que se de los vampiros (What I Know About Vampires), his take on “the tragicomedy of life.”
The novel, which will be published by Ediciones Destino next month, tells the story of Martin de Viloalle, who must deal for the rest of his life with the consequences of his decision to accompany the Jesuits expelled from Spain on April 2, 1767.
Viloalle’s journey takes him to Rome, the German states, Denmark and revolutionary Paris during a period in which his order is marginalized and subject to the tastes and whims of the upper class.
