评分世纪之交最后一批被淘汰（death）的帆船，几乎完全受自然条件（贸易风）的支配。整个voyage被将死之人wait笼罩（将在看到第一片陆地之后死去），就像voyage被最后的telos笼罩，就像narrative被最后的closure笼罩，现实中康拉德被ddl笼罩...。水仙号在风暴和calmness中move back and forth, 叙述视角也是如此（在第一和第三人称之间，在单数和复数之间，过去和现在之间），叙述节奏也是如此，句子的语法和长短交错也是如此，不是有点像wave和tide而不是假想中总是向前的历史河流。
