比Interpreter of Maladies更憂鬱，寫作技巧也更復雜，也有更多禪意。Agony, bitterness, confuse是人生常態。從Hell到Heaven，純粹因為苦難後的“悟道”。最後一篇Going Ashore，因為幾乎親身經曆過，不忍卒讀。

短篇小說集，隻讀瞭主打故事“不適之地”，沒感覺有什麽不適的啊，看上去你們不論是印度還是孟加拉的過的比阿拉伯來的還滋潤。再說都是G2瞭，還能有什麽不適呢，苦大仇深的我苦不堪言啊，罄竹難書！！

Jhumpa Lahiri is my favorite at the time. She uses simple languages to touch the deepest of my heart. As a Chinese expat living in the U.S I empathize a lot with her Bengali-American antagonists.

整體水平不如第一本短篇小說集，但是最後一個故事完完全全擊敗我瞭，I am a hopeless romantic.
