2.5/5 This is my first Shaun Tan's book (I read it at a bookstore) and although I quite adore the illustrations and find the ending empowering, Cicada is still an underwhelming read for it'd be much stronger if there was more substance in the story. Still, I can relate to Cicada a lot because I'm feeling fucking undervalued and invisible at work!
