评分在丁荷生看来，儒家的最高祭祀仪式与民间崇拜交融在一起，但地方精英和村野信众都能在仪式中找到自身的定位和诉求。之所以跨地域，在于道教礼仪的开放性与灵验作为普遍的中国宗教内核。某种意义而言，该书也是对仪式与信仰、地方与国家两大主题的陈述。对宗教分析的框架，与《宗教的意义与终结》异曲同工。【书评：http://www.cranth.cn/1505/00008.html。另外，康豹对这本书的书评真的是过度自我发挥，有点儿没事找事。】
评分这本书实在是好看，感觉在重新认识民间知识一样，如今看来此研究几乎影响了刘永华在内的中国礼仪研究的所有学者。确实也值得一版再版。
