Throughout his carrer, David Herbert Lawrence as a writer was a rebel. He consiciously pushed accepted boundaries to attain his own vision and paid a high price. During his lifetime he had continual financial problems, and had to cope with public ostracisim, and, many times, persecution. It was not until afteer World War II that his work began to be studied seriously and appreciated. Now, more than sixty years after his death, D.H.Larence is considered one of the twentieth-century's greatest and most visionary English novelists.
