【作者簡介】
[美] 尤金•賴斯（Eugene F. Rice）
美國傑齣曆史學傢，主要研究早期現代歐洲的宗教史。他畢業於哈佛大學，後來擔任哥倫比亞大學曆史係主任，並被授予哥倫比亞大學“偉大教師奬”。尤金•賴斯曾經榮獲古根海姆奬，他曾是美國哲學協會和美國藝術與科學學院成員。
[美] 安東尼•格拉夫頓（Anthony Grafton）
美國知名曆史學者，師從古典曆史學權威莫米利亞諾，主要研究文藝復興時期的歐洲文化史、書籍與閱讀的曆史。格拉夫頓曾擔任美國曆史學會（AHA）會長、普林斯頓大學人文學術委員會主任，還曾被選為英國學術院通訊院士，並且被提名“巴爾紮恩奬”。他的代錶作有《腳注趣史》《文字書寫的世界》等，現在為普林斯頓大學亨利•普特南學院特聘教授。
