詹姆斯·瑟伯（James Thurber，1894～1961）美國幽默作傢，寓言作傢，畫傢。俄亥俄州人，大學畢業後，1927年進入著名雜誌《New Yorker》編輯部，成為其中最年輕有為的編輯之一，後來又作自由撰稿記者。當過記者、編輯，晚年執教於耶魯大學。瑟伯一生創作瞭大量的散文、隨筆、寓言、故事、迴憶錄等，他還親自為自己的作品繪製插圖。瑟伯的作品普遍受到人們的喜愛，但最成功的要數他那些冷麵滑稽的諷刺小說。他尤其擅長刻畫大都市中的小人物，筆法簡練新奇，荒唐之中有真實，幽默之中有苦澀，被人們稱作是“在墓地裏吹口哨的人”。代錶作有《當代寓言集》、《當代寓言續集》。
