Iggy struggles with maintaining his old irresponsible image and developing the serious habits and relationships that will earn him the election and a lot of self-confidence. The story takes an interesting supernatural turn with the appearance of Iggy's great-great-grandfather's ghost， who gives advice and encouragement. Both the ghost and Iggy's dad are magicians， and the theme of magic is carried throughout the book. Iggy learns a lesson about what is important in life--finding out what makes him happy and letting the magic of life find him.
