Thankfully, many who have preceded us into this
world have already experienced and demonstrated the
enlivening influences of awakened spiritual conscious-
ness and are ideal role models: exceptional ex_~mples of
what we, too, can experience in our own lives.
Many readers of this book will enjoy the stories about
Paramahansa Yogananda and other saints and be in-
spired by their exemplary behaviors and words. May all
who peruse these pages derive helpful insights into spiri-
tual growth processes which can be of personal value.
An overview of yoga philosophy and practices is in-
cluded in the appendix and some primary English and
Sanskrit words are defined in the glossary. A thorough
review of these sections is recommended to provide a more
comprehensive understanding of the overall theme.
