This is also a book for the buyer of an older
house that is in need of repair, renovation, or
remodeling. With an older house, you may be
faced with more involved projects--patching
walls, replacing doors and windows, even build-
ing or tearing out partitions.
There are times when hiring a competent and
experienced contractor is the prudent course of
action, such as anytime the load-bearing struc-
ture of the house is involved. Here, you can get
into a lot of trouble fast if you don t know exactly
what you are doing. Be very cautious when deal-
ing with the house structure.
