This is a good， well-rounded introductory work on treating simple ailments. Mindell also includes plenty of cautions， explains what herbal remedies can reasonably be expected to accomplish， and recommends consulting a physician for serious conditions. If you already have a good general work such as Michael Castleman's The Healing Herbs (Rodale Pr.， 1991)， you might not need Mindell's book.
