Success in the world of work is based not only on your
ability to perform，but also on your personality．In fact,in any
situation requiring contact with other people--your family rela—
tionships，your personal and social activities，your employment--
personality is an important key．To be successfully employed，
you must develop your personality as well as your occupational
skills．You must Have the kind of personality that helps you
make the adjustments necessary to fit in and become a member
of a working team．
There are two dimensions to be considered as you evaluate
vour success in the world of work．0ne is efficiency--getting the
{ob done quickly without wasting precious time and materials--
and getting it done right．The other dimension is your personal
satisfaction．In addition to satisfying your employer，you must
consider how well your employment provides for meeting your
own personal needs． ． ． ．
Many psychologists have conducted research to determine
the basic needs——needs we all have．0ne of the most prominent
researchers，Abraham H．Maslow，1 found that we all need to
have shelter and food，to be safe and free from fear and danger，
to be accepted as part of the group，to have a feeling of Success
and personal achievement，to feel that what we are doing lS
