Throughout the Home Connection Handbook, you will read how important
it is to build communication lines between home and school. Without
family support, understanding, and encouragement, your job as teacher
will be more difficult. This handbook has been prepared as a tool for
teachers to use as they communicate with parents. It contains ideas and
strategies for communicating that first year of implementation, as well as
ideas for continuing communication growth after the initial year. If the
communication habit is established early and often, parents will learn about
the philosophy of the program, they will see how it works on a regular
basis, and they will see that their children are successful. And that s the
bottom line for us all, whether we are parent or teacher (and sometimes
both!)--mathematical success for our children and our students.
