乍讀之下，安東尼婭這個姑娘相當普通，甚至還有點討人厭，但人到中年的托尼居然依然還保持著純真活力和熱情，在艱難的人生磨難中依舊暢快地前行，不禁讓人心生敬意。

Cather's rich and vivid depictions of the beautiful countryside broadened my horizon to a realm not unfamiliar but somehow dismissed previously. I keep thinking about my mom while reading the book. 小说依然充满了浓郁的怀旧气息，安东尼亚的父亲是失根移民（知识分子）的代表，忍受不了环境剧变带来的失落，放弃了与新土地抗争的可能性。Jim在从乡村到城镇再到城市的旅途中一路丢失，一路寻找，二十年后在安东尼亚的美好乡村家庭生活中重温了长存心间的美好。虽然回不去了，...  

这些天看得神魂颠倒。特别美国的一部小说。 这个故事布景和人物一样重要，薇拉凯瑟写景的功力绝不亚于哈代，很多段落极其动人。跟哈代不一样的是有好几重布景，孩子在内布拉斯加的草原上长大，同时也在东欧的村庄里长大，说捷克语学英语，吃波西米亚森林里采摘晾干的蘑菇也吃红...
