材料蠻豐富的, 雖然把什麼都說是美國獨立戰爭帶來的有點牽強 (作者應該也知道這點吧, 所以講Ireland革命的時候就不太提北美瞭). 好的地方是該書提及瞭很多革命和戰亂對普通人的負麵影響. 全書的主要觀點是, 美國獨立戰爭對英國的對手國傢的內部混亂(比如法國/西班牙)有貢獻, 又導緻英國加強瞭統治管製, 無形中幫助瞭日後英帝國的建立.
