The tire man put the front tire on the changing
machine. "What did you run over?" he asked. "A
bottle, or what?"
"What do you mean?" Randy said.
"This tire didn t blow," the tire man told him.
"Look, you can see where it was cut. It was some-
thing sharp, like a bottle."
Randy looked. Sure enough, the tire was cut.
But it was cut in a straight line. He thought that if
he had run over a bottle, it would not be straight
like that.
The other tire was the same.
There was no question about it now. Somebody
had cut Randy s tires with a knife or a razor!
