Peggy McCoy is a proud woman--proud of her
Yankee heritage, proud of her own feisty
independence, and proud, too, that she and her
small sailboat can outsail any man or woman in
the coastal town of Hasty Harbor, Maine.
But Charles Deering has his pride, too. He s
proud of his years of service in the U.S. Navy,
and of his modest reputation as a retired admiral,
or as he says of himself, a distinguished member
of the mothball fleet.
