It begins with a robbery, but quite
unexpectedly, gets much worse sud-
denly, someone has heen killed. For
Charles Howard, the young, bright but
troubled barrister, the case is a chal-
lenge: One of the rohbers killed the
man, but which one? Both his defen-
dant and the man s accomplice contend
it was the other--what they call in the
trade a cut-throat defense. It s a classic
legal dilemma, but no one has yet come
up with a simple solution.
Charles must come to the trial with a
very good game plan. But with his
personal life in a shambles, and the
added distraction of trying to save a
young clerk from becoming the center
of a sleazy Court scandal, he s forced to
pull out all the stops to make it to
the trial with his case--and his sanity
intact.
