《Life of Johnson》不是我的菜，Samuel Johnson雖然為英語和英國文學的發展做齣瞭巨大的貢獻，但是他政治上是個徹頭徹尾的保守派，看不起女人，宣揚階級不平等，甚至為宗教裁判所辯護。我還是喜歡彌爾頓那樣的反抗派。對這種談話錄式的傳記沒什麼興趣。
