《瘟疫年纪事》写的大瘟疫发生在17世纪60年代的英国伦敦。笛福用纪实的手法，全书没有主角，也没情节，读起来不像小说（在我看来很像报告文学）全景记录了那场瘟疫中伦敦城的恐惧和死亡：贵族和有钱人都逃之夭夭，江湖骗子粉墨登场，平民百姓无处可逃，只能在死亡线上挣扎、死...
