Thomas Hardy真的就是维多利亚时期的琼瑶，爱情兜兜转转，各种误会梗，但胜在语言动人。据说这部小说里对英国小镇的描写给了D H Lawrence很多启发。我倒是在小说里看到世纪末的浪漫主义情怀。

结局有点强凑出皆大欢喜的感觉。如果Clym同Eustacia一起坠河时死去似乎更符合我的预期。
