The romance was mediocre but the ending took it to a new level. A preserved marriage was the only way it could have ended, yet it broke my heart to hear his own son speak, with manyfold irony, of Ellen as his Fanny. But was Newland right to think a reuion decades after it was due could remedy nothing--or did he fool himself into losing her again?

最後結局蠻動人可是。。。為什麼一直讀的都是一知半解的趕腳？？？淚奔……T^T （看完introduction後纔覺得醍醐灌頂！！！）

讓人心纍，讓人頭大，竟然可以這麼擰巴這麼細膩，讀瞭一半就心緒不寜，從來沒這樣過。我對著這本書有種種不喜歡，但也不能否認它的獨特之處。就這樣吧，真的懶得寫讀後感瞭。Newland和Ellen讓人厭惡又同情，看看他們，怎麼能不痛苦一生？還是努力做一個堅強的人吧，在這一點上，May勝過他們無數
