顔海平，1959年齣生於上海，1982年畢業於復旦大學中國語言文學係，1983年赴美國康乃爾大學攻讀 “歐洲現代戲劇、比較文化、批評理論”專業，1990年獲博士學位。現為美國康乃爾大學藝術與人文終身教授，戲劇電影、比較文學和東亞研究博士生導師、康乃爾大學中國所所長，華東師範大學紫江特聘教授，華東師範大學－康乃爾大學比較人文研究中心主任。主要研究領域為現代中西戲劇文學史論、現代中西女性文學和藝術史論、批判哲學理論、視覺文化批評等。主要著作有《中國女性作傢及其曆史想象，1905-1948》（英文專著）、《觀者的在場：全球化時代中人文研究的新領域》、《海外飛鴻：給友人的十五封信》和擴充版《迴歸的路程》、《秦王李世民：十幕大型曆史劇》等。
