如果从读小说的角度看《雨王亨德森》还是有点累的，描写太干，心理活动太多。但是我知道，这百分之八十是翻译的问题。欧美的长篇小说很多不能让人读完，比如纳博科夫，唯一好读的只有《洛丽塔》。但是又很奇怪，世界上最会讲故事的作家也在他们那儿。 读完小说以后我才深刻明白...  

接触的第二本索尔贝娄的作品，相比于《洪堡的礼物》中对城市知识分子精神漩涡的剖析，《雨王亨德森》显然是向所有城市阶层或者说在现代文明下生活的人们提供了一次自我探寻的精神苦旅，也更加易懂。主人公亨德森的存在主义危机一方面是由于机械化复制时代给人们带来的虚幻景观...

索尔·贝娄的作品有许多都类似于流浪体小说，至少其中期作品占主要内容，此书中的亨德森即是如此，他都流浪到非洲原始部队去了，但与传统的流浪体小说不同在于，贝娄笔下的流浪者不是用自己的眼睛去观察社会，揭露现实，思考问题。亨德森则是寻找自我，算是自我的心灵流浪之旅...
