R. Paul Stocker was born on the day Dwight D. Eisenhower was elected to office. America was prosperous and optimistic, building interstate highways and testimonial skyscrapers. As an adolescent during the tumultuous 1960s and a70s, Paul was deeply impressioned by the senselessness and tragedy of the Viet Nam War as well as the naively idealistic youthful counter-culture that grew as a generationas response to that administrationas iconic mind-set. As an adult amid todayas rapidly increasing pace of life, Paulas poetry has found the solace and exultation that live dually within any passing momenta]daring to step aside from the mainstream, headlong race in order to revel in the abundance of the private, idealistic, counter-cultural pause. You are invited, through his poetry, to join him in that covenant.
