Bob Ebersol, who has long since cut off his family and his past in order to distance himself from cycles of poverty and abuse, finds himself drawn into a world of crime and vice when his son is kidnapped. Although he makes a meager living as the manager of a supermarket, the kidnappers demand over a million dollars in twenty-four hours. Daniel Natal has been a book reviewer for The Daily Journal (New Jersey) and has spent many years working in libraries. He also worked as a reader for MacAdam Cage in San Francisco.
