"Will appeal to anyone 'wi a bit a o Scotland' in them, or a desire to learn more about the country." -Children's Literature Gather around, children, for stories of the Scottish Highlands and stone castles. Here, the blow of the bagpipes ushers in the sheep from the hills and sailors on the coast, and in the dreamy night, fairies scurry about. On this lively compact disk, author and narrator Aileen Campbell compiles authentic songs and tales from her Scottish childhood. Filled with whimsical lullabies, folktales, and playful rhymes, this CD is an invitation to youngsters across the world to partake in Scottish playtime. Combining English with old Scots' language, Campbell creates Celtic-inspired verses for children of all ages to enjoy. During World War II, she served as a registered nurse and certified nurse-midwife in Scotland and England before immigrating to Canada. After moving to the United States, she eventually retired to Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. Campbell continues to paint and win recognition for her accomplished watercolors.
