The Drager House is built into a hillside in Berkeley, California, and steps down in section to conform to the changing site condition. Specific elements such as staircases, terraces and loggias are used to join the house and site, as are large corner windows, which the architect has used to frame selected views of trees and sky. It perpetuates what Franklin Israel describes as the tradition started in Los Angeles by Frank Lloyd Wright and R.M. Schindler, of the mitred glass corner and the "exploded box". This book presents Drager House in detail, using original drawings showing the architect's designs in progress, and newly-commissioned photographs, which are accompanied by many black and white photographs illustrating earlier designs by Israel.
