Georg Simmel (1858–1918) taught sociology and philosophy at the

University of Berlin for the greater part of his life. In 1914 he was

appointed to a chair at Strasbourg University, where he remained until his

death.

The late Tom Bottomore was Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Sussex

University.

David Frisby is Professor of Sociology at Glasgow University.

西美尔对资本主义社会只是作“印象式批评”。他号称要给历史唯物主义奠基，恰恰反而抽掉了历史唯物主义的根基。说到底，西美尔是一个生命哲学家，并以一个生命哲学家的身份来进行社会学研究。关注的不是社会本身，而是生命对社会的感受。这本书里面写的好的也正是这一方面。他...

不了解为什么还要出这个本子。华夏的本子质量应该有保证，译者为治德国哲学或西美尔的年轻学者，可惜译本语言太晦涩。不懂德语，所以不敢断定是谁的错。目前这个是英汉对照，是从英文译出的？那就没必要了。原文即是德文，那看汉译与英译有什么大区别？难道英语比汉语更接近德...
