Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit is probably his most famous work. First published in 1807, it has exercised considerable influence on subsequent thinkers from Feuerbach and Marx to Heidegger, Kojeve, Adorno and Derrida. The book contains many memorable analyses of, for example, the master / slave dialectic, the unhappy consciousness, Sophocles' Antigone and the French Revolution and is one of the most important works in the Western philosophical tradition. It is, however, a difficult and challenging book and needs to be studied together with a clear and accessible secondary text. 评分许多章节都读了两遍,Houlgate写得简洁明晰,作为一本导论,没有过多涉入黑格尔身处的语境和传统,而是专注于呈现每一章最核心的论证逻辑,有提纲挈领、提供线索之效。比较遗憾的是,限于篇幅,理性章及之后的论述太少,而且难免挂一漏二之嫌。无论如何,是一本对于初学者非常友好的导论!
