Nikifor Krynicki (1895-1968) was a homeless painter of "naive" pictures. The son of beggars, he was an illiterate and self-taught painter, who first began painting on waste paper and empty cigarette packets at the age of twenty. His first exhibition was organised in 1947 in Warsaw, and, by the 1960s, his work was world famous. This volume compiles works from his different periods, from his early paintings to his last works, when he was a famous Polish painter who had risen from extreme poverty.
