作为第一批将福和医生之间的感情描写为爱情的戏作之一，很有创新精神和勇气。 Queen Bee案件情节倒是很有意思，结局出人意料且戏剧性。对维多利亚时代英国的恐同环境和同性恋者心中的不安与踌躇描写的十分真实。但人物略ooc，主要的ooc集中在医生和迈哥，福本身也或多或少的有些崩坏，所以没法打太高的分。相当于一篇原著福华fanfic，清水，虐，HE。但更适合作为戏作而非cp向同人来阅读。

当年有争议的一个gay pastiche现在看来其实像一部写的优美的清水文，就是在语言和含蓄方面更像published work。跟以正直杀腐为己任但是充满OOC和bug的House of Silk相比，这本其实还更多点官方同人的风范。案情有点单薄。不是弟控的麦哥真不习惯。。。

感觉作为casefic不太合格，但作为上世纪就出版的古早同人文中规中矩……放在ao3上也是不会特别出彩的水准吧（。）

'My Dearest Holmes was first published in 1988, when the public perception of Sherlock Holmes was still largely rooted in the Basil Rathbone era, and media response led to headlines such as 'Sherlock Homo!' and 'Elementary, My Queer Watson!'. Times have changed, however, and when it was re-published in 2007 the book received a much more sympathetic response. Today, the most recent Sherlock Holmes movie has opened up the debate about the relationship between Holmes and Watson yet again; and this non-explicit romance captures the subtext of the original Doyle stories both delicately and persuasively.
