This is a magnificently illustrated exploration of renowned contemporary artist, Shirin Neshat's latest work. Shirin Neshat is an internationally renowned contemporary Iranian artist, primarily known for her work in film, video, and photography. In 2009, she won the Silver Lion for Best Director at the 66th Venice Film Festival for her directorial debut "Women Without Men". "Games of Desire" is a wonderfully illustrated volume that takes readers on a journey through her latest exhibition, in which she examines the global construction of identity. In this work, Neshat examines the all-but-forgotten tradition of courtship singing of the people of Luang Prabang in Laos, offering insight into the boundaries between the sexes. Featuring video stills and full-colour photographs, "Games of Desire" turns this beautiful and evocative, yet fading tradition into a work of art for the present.
