读完原版才感受到这个故事绵密而震撼的情感。Between dreaming and waking，Charles在不可知论的框架下连接起宗教和现实，也败给了现实。天主教与其说给整个家族一种信仰，不如说是无论是否相信自己属于上帝，在一切意识出现之前，就已经皈依了。而不可知论更是无法打破这种联系。我也突然意识到以前说charles欲望太大，想要友人情人甚至是整个庄园是大错特错的，他只是想“拯救”这个家庭，结果只是一步一步地将自己推开，一步一步远离了似乎本就不属于他的世界。
