评分拉康对自己的历史完全保持沉默。他的传记作家Elisabeth Roudinesco写道：“没有人像拉康这样对自己的历史保持沉默”（尾注4:）。当然，我们也可以把他的做法理解成为谦虚的匿名或不同寻常的自恋。Freud一生之中都没有停止他的自我分析，残忍地追问他的“家庭浪漫史”，他与他父亲的关系，他幼年时候的妄想自大狂，他自比为英雄，而拉康烧掉了他的所有联系，断绝了每个亲属关系和每个父权（包括分析性的父权），就是为了给世界提供一个焊接式的人格——“分析者”（Analyst）的人格，一个大写Ａ的分析者，一个永远的“大他者”，永远“在别处”（Elsewhere）。
