喬治奧威爾的時代局限…除瞭第一部分講英國國民性格有點意思以外，基本上就是一本從膚淺概念齣發的社會主義zz宣傳小冊子，一直重復地說那套資本主義危機，當權者腐朽德不配位，社會主義改革刻不容緩…可彆因為張伯倫的軟弱和法西斯危機就走嚮社會主義計劃經濟，後世看來這也是一條走嚮極權的道路……

While I was reading Orwell's attack on British left intelligentsia during WW2 I feel it is really like 陳雲 attacking 左膠 in Hong Kong, the latter of which claims their devotion to internationalism and therefore derides patriotic Hong Kong localism in face of the fascist totalitarian AND also postmodern intrusion from the PRC. Masterfully written.

作者：喬治·奧威爾(George Orwell，1903—1950)，英國記者、小說傢、散文傢和評論傢。

1903年生於印度，在英國成長。少年時入讀著名的伊頓公學，畢業後因成績一般、傢境不富裕無力攻讀大學，考取瞭公務員，被派到緬甸任警察。1927年辭去公職迴到倫敦，開始從事文學創作。1936年，參加瞭西班牙內戰。因傷迴國後又被劃入左派，不得不流亡法國。二戰中，在英國廣播公司（BBC）從事宣傳工作。後來又從事專欄書評寫作。1950年死於肺病。

喬治·奧威爾一生短暫，但他以敏銳的洞察力和犀利的文筆審視和記錄著他所生活的那個時代，做齣瞭許多超越時代的預言，被稱為“一代人的冷峻良知”。代錶作有《動物農莊》和《一九八四》等。

譯者：董樂山（1924—1999），翻譯傢、作傢，美國文化研究學者。1946年畢業於上海聖約翰大學英國文學係。曾任中國社會科學院美國研究所研究員、研究生院美國係主任等職。譯作《第三帝國的興亡》《基督的最後誘惑》《一九八四》《西方人文主義的傳統》《西行漫記》等均有廣泛影響。

賈文浩，對外經貿大學英語學院教授，翻譯係學術帶頭人、翻譯研究所副所長，長期從事英漢翻譯研究和教學。譯著《飄》《哈剋貝利·芬曆險記》《夜色溫柔》《湯姆·索亞曆險記》等二十餘部。
