本书讲了几个被称为“outsider”的CEO的故事，被巴菲特等多位投资大亨推荐，读来的确获益不少。“真正”（本书定义，我基本赞同，仁者见仁）成功的CEO以股东利益最大化为己任，因而目标是最大化每股的表现而非公司的规模，他们可能不（往往不）那么擅长或在意管理，而极其擅长做资产配置，从如何融资到如何投资，有洞见有眼光有胆识的CEO能够不拘一格地处置公司现金收益，低调行事不露锋芒坚持己见，创造稳健增长的每股现金流，从而给股东大而持久的回报。

很有意思的商业故事，作为上市公司，在股价高估的时候并购，低估的时候回购，善用资本的力量。

有点担心这些人是不是选择上有幸存者偏差。他们都是成功的做了比较大规模并购并且成功的。这和上课学的小步(profit from the core)慢走有不少区别。除此之外的故事似乎都还不错。

可读性很强。几个要点：好的CEO身边常常有一个好的COO负责日常运营，这样才能腾出手来思考战略层面的问题。在企业股价高企时通过换股买入廉价资产，而在企业股价低迷时回购作为投资加强股东回报。模糊的正确好过精确的错误，习惯独立思考，正确不因他人苟同，而是因为事实和推理有理有据。长期观点，耐心等待机会出现。相对分散的运营管理，只要达到财政预期，就不要干涉管理者。招管理者要谨慎，一旦用人则不疑。按照绩效取舍人，这样没人担心谁曲意逢迎。成本意识极强，没有繁华的办公室，总部没有太多的行政管理人员，运营分散但资本决策集中，及时卖掉臃肿非核心业务，董事会成员要对公司有投资和投入才能真心管理好这个企业。收购决策不需要几十页长篇大论，着重关注标的市场增长潜能，行业竞争，潜在运营改进空间，以及现金产生能力
