两个多月，终于读完了。。 ps：an obscure scribbler in the british library，karl marx，被翻译成大英图书馆奋笔疾书的马克思。。

非常精彩，重新燃起了自13年的民主发展公开课以来对政治科学的热情。主要篇幅在用历史示例来阐述福山理论框架的三大基本元素，国家，法治和political accountability (因为视角很高，可读性强所以本部分为其畅销书属性增色不少），而后面的总论章节则是其理论框架精炼阐述，最后福山抛出了三个还在进行时的话题，其结果将作为对他理论的检验（抑或修正）：中国，Liberal democracies和美国。在18年回望他在11年提出的问题，不得不说他的理论确实把握到了一些关键的症结，世界还在发展，这三个课题的答案只能靠时间来回答了。

第三次民主浪潮的退却也让福山从认为历史终结变成了一个更加审慎，视野更加宽广的比较政治学家。他依照韦伯对现代政体的定义认为中国是最早形成中央集权的现代意义的政治体的国家，但由于没有法律对权力的制约以及对民众负责的政府，容易形成威权。他对中国的讲述分为六篇，提出了不少有意思的观点，诸如战国纷争秦国统一，中央集权以及变法的背后原动力是战争。用现代经济，政治，社会以及与希腊罗马甚至近代欧洲观照对比的手法让我颇为受益。至于内容，深度，与精确，毕竟不能样样俱到，也不应该对人太求全责备。比起Huntington的political order in changing socities，这部著作问的问题更根本---政治制度的起源是什么。这大概并非语言可以穷尽，但福山的学术诚实有目共睹。此书将常读常新。

對世界的政治發展歷史很深入全面的分析。對中國的政治歷史觀察和歸納地十分客觀。政治體系的發展和演變不是一句“你去搞民主吧”那麼簡單容易的。
