这大概是我读的第三遍了，第二遍是以前在旅途中读的比较随意不算数，这一次才算fully digest。之前因为这本书发心要读希罗多德的《历史》，现在终于读完了《历史》，又把这本书捡起来重看。翁达杰美中不足的地方是他太喜欢搞些特别专业的工作配给人物，毕竟是二手经验，读起来夹生。但除此以外，这本书确实配的上"金布克"的荣誉，简直美不胜收。塑造最好的形象是almasy和hana，前者的爱情，后者的成长都是伟丽而令人信服的。the cave of swimmers一章让我想起"文字炼金术"的说法(唐诺形容朱天文)，那种意象的绚烂铺陈，情绪的华丽耽溺，阅读感受上可以媲美我读《荒人手记》时候的印象。

Well, I have to say, the book is quite different from the movie. One can regard them as separated work. Though they both are based on the same plot and characters, the way they present the story, the pattern and tone, the main focus of the story telling are...
